Group SMS messages get sent to Facebook email address’s on iPhone

Many people choose to send SMS text messages to communicate with their friends, and when the message is the same then a natural solution is to create and send a group SMS message, a great example of this is New Years Eve when you wish many of your contacts best wishes for the new year.

However many iPhone users may not be aware that many of your group text messages won’t have been sent as you intended.
If you create a group SMS text message on iOS6 and you have enabled Facebook contact integration then the messages app will, without notification, send your message to a contacts Facebook email addresses and not as a text message to their mobile phone. You don’t even get an option to select a mobile number rather then the Facebook email address.
Therefore many of your text messages may not have been read yet.

As this is only an issue when Facebook contact integration is turned on we are advising all iPhone users to turn this feature off.

To turn off Facebook contact integration on the iPhone:
1) Open the Settings App
2) Open the Facebook App
3) Turn Contacts Access to Facebook Off
